Readers Respond: Which Insects Do You Find Most Annoying?

Even for the bug lovers among us, certain insects can be downright annoying. I was once attacked by biting flies so mercilessly that I quit my job to get away from them. Also on my list of the most annoying bugs - mosquitoes, fleas, and no-see-ums (aka punkies).

Fire Ants

I HATE FIRE ANTS! I got bit on my big toe by one in the beginning on summer and I still have the scar even if i never scratched it! They just started attacking my foot and one was clinging onto my sandal. My uncle had to step on my shoe to get it away. Its also gross what makes you want to itch.

June Bugs

June bugs get stuck on clothing and fly into your head. I don't think they bite but they are annoying. I don't kill bugs but if you do these guys are crunchy and harder to kill.

Palmetto Bugs

Ugh! There is nothing more disgusting than a 4" flying palmetto bug. They terrify me to no end! Fortunately I have a great exterminator of the feline variety and he loves them!

Flies, Fleas, and Mosquitoes

I don't like biting flies, fleas and mosquitoes. Why cant they leave me and my critters alone????? I feel like I am going to poison my dogs and horses trying to keep them from getting chewed up.

Bed bugs

Anyone who answered anything other than bed bugs has clearly never had them! It's insanely difficult and expensive to get rid of them. Even worse, though, is the emotional and psychological damage. I haven't slept well in months because of the paranoia. It eats away at you, and you will probably never feel safe in your house again, no matter what preventive measures you take.

House Centipede

Whenever I go into the bathroom I find those little creatures. I try to go out of the bathroom and wait until it "goes somewhere." They scare the heck out of me!

American Cockroaches

ANY Insect in swarms can be annoying and fearful! But these nocturnal underworld roaches are the worst cause they are responsible for ailments like diarrhoea, asthma, ect. They gave me 'Katsariphobia' (fear of cockroaches) due to early unpleasant encounters! Their appearance, size and sheer occurence in numbers is disgusting! And some FLY putting you at their mercy! And they're bold enough to crawl on your skin with you conscious and that sensation makes you wanna rip your skin right off!!!
