Atlas moth

The Atlas moth ranks first among all moths for both wingspan (up to 12 inches) and wing surface area. See one up close, and you'll be struck by its enormous size.

Atlas moths, which produce silk, are native to southern Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, and southern China.

Larvae of Atticus atlas feed on the foliage of a variety of trees, including cinnamon, pomelo, lime, rambutan, guava, and soursop.
