Male julia butterflies fly from one end of the exhibit to the other, patrolling for females. They often land on people's shirts and bags, especially those that were brightly colored.
Julia butterflies, also called julia heliconians, live in southern Texas and peninsular Florida, Mexico, the West Indies, Central America, and South America to Brazil.
The larvae of Dryas iulia feed on leaves of passion vines. Adults nectar on flowers like lantana.
