Emerald swallowtail

The emerald swallowtail likes to fly high, so look for it near the ceiling if you visit the butterfly conservatory. Iridescent scales give the butterfly's wings a glittery appearance. This swallowtail has many nicknames, including the moss green peacock and the green banded peacock swallowtail.

Papilio palinurus comes from the Malay Peninsula, Sumatro, Borneo Palawan and the Philipines.

Caterpillars feed on host plants from the rue or citrus family. Adults nectar on flowers.
