Description
Guide Review - "Buzz - The Bug Book with Buzz"I first encountered Buzz while browsing through my library's bookshelves. The cover certainly caught my eye, and I found myself trying to name each of the dozens of insects portrayed on the front. Then I noticed three directives - "Squash Me! Squish Me! Smash Me!" So I did. A firm push with a finger yielded familiar sounds of chirping crickets, humming mosquitoes, and buzzing bees. Thumbing through the pages, you'll find answers to all the questions kids might ask about insects they encounter. How do fireflies produce light? Check out page 53. What do bugs eat? It's all on pages 80-81. What do insects look like inside? There's a great cutaway illustration on page 28, with explanations about bug brains, hearts, stomachs, and less polite parts. I just returned the copy I borrowed from the library, and purchased my own. Even for a grown-up who knows a lot about bugs, Buzz is a worthy addition to my bookshelf. I highly recommend you add it to your child's bookshelf, too. |
