Did You Miss the Insect Fear Film Festival? Host Your Own!

By February 25, 2013

Follow me on:

This past Saturday, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Department of Entomology hosted their 30th Annual Insect Fear Film Festival. The yearly homage to science fiction films featuring insects began in 1984, the brainchild of entomologist and U of I professor May Berenbaum. This year's theme was The InsX-Files: The Truth (About Insects) Is Out There. Saturday's festival featured an episode of the television show The X-Files, the big screen X-Files feature Fight the Future, as well as a special Q&A with Chris Carter, creator of the hit series.

If you missed the big event (as I did), you can still enjoy this year's chosen features in the comfort of your own home! You can watch the "The War of the Coprophages" about a wave of deaths linked to what may be alien robotic cockroaches, on Netflix streaming. Just queue up X-Files: Season 3, Episode 12. You can borrow the DVD version of X-Files: Fight the Future from Netflix's DVD service, or watch it instantly with an Amazon Prime membership.
