Did you know...
Gypsy moths have been feeding on North American forests since the late 1860's, when silkworm enthusiast Leopold Trouvelot unintentionally let them escape from his Massachusetts backyard. The war against gypsy moths has lasted almost 150 years now, and cost us millions of dollars (perhaps even billions). Nearly 50 other species of insects have been intentionally released, in the hope of finding a parasite or predator capable of conquering the gypsy moths.
