This isn't exactly cause for celebration, but it's worth mentioning that National Invasive Species Awareness Week kicks off today. I wish we didn't need such a week, personally. But since many invasive insects, plants, and other organisms are here to stay, it's important for the public to learn about species that threaten our native wildlife.

The sponsors of National Invasive Species Awareness Week have provided a list of 10 things you can do to make yourself more aware of invasive species in your area. I'll be doing my part this week by profiling invasive insects in my blog and newsletter.

If you could snap your fingers and eliminate one invasive species, which one would it be?
