85 New Insect Species Discovered in United Arab Emirates
For three years, scientists have been documenting the flora and fauna of the United Arab Emirates, with the goal of cataloging every single species. The effort is a partnership between the Emirates Wildlife Society and the World Wide Fund for Nature.
Entomologist Dr. Antonius van Harten reports 85 new species of insects have been discovered, a considerable boon to the UAE's arthropod biodiversity. The discoveries include mayflies, parasitic wasps, and fruit flies.
